Plant Assets: Quixel Bridge | HDRI: RenderCrate | All Else: Lucia Pineiro Sosa

Unreal Engine 5

While I've dabbled in Unreal before, this time I went all in, creating everything in engine —assets, textures, animations, and final renders. I used assets from Quixel Bridge for the plants, the amazing HDRI is from RenderCrate, and I used JSplacement for those intricate patterns on the ship’s interior. Everything else, however, was done by me. While I still have lots to learn, this project has taught me SO much about the powers of Unreal Engine 5 and has helped me grow significantly both in my artistic and problem-solving skills.

My first Unreal Engine rig, all bones and skinning was done in Maya, and the final skinning was reviewed by leadership before being brought into Unreal Engine where I rigged it for animation. Because all animations were being created in Unreal, having a rig being made in the program itself versus bringing it over from a different program proved to be extremely efficient and was a good learning experience for me to improve and expand my rigging horizons.

Dark Aviary: Documentation

Google Suite

As animation lead for the project for over 7 months, I re-designed the documentation and structure of the team several times to achieve maximum clarity, best communication, and efficiency. I kept track of not only the handmade Google sheets documentation, but also the ClickUp and Discord portion of communication and track management as well. In addition to all this, I also put my rigging and animation experience to use when it came to creating guides using Google Docs and Adobe Acrobat PDF to allow us to have an efficient and consistent way to train all our animators and modelers in similar ways to ensure cohesiveness within the project.
